Recurrent Training

Training Officers

If You Are An Accredited Agency You Need To Have Your Motor Officers Certified And Attend Recurrent Training Every Two Years To Be Within Guidelines.

Recurrent training is available to any motor officer who has successfully completed the 80 hour “Basic Police Motorcycle Operators Course” or equivalent.

Officers should attend recurrent within two years after completing the operators’ course and every two years thereafter. Because officers have passed the 80 hour basic course they should be familiar with techniques to protect their police motorcycle. Due to the very tight schedule, students are asked to arrive at the course with their motorcycles ready to go.

Recurrent Training is not a re-certification course.

Recurrent training is a tool for officers to evaluate their abilities. It is an opportunity to receive instruction and to hone skills. Instructors are present to point out areas of concern so that officers can address them. Officers will be required to pass a written and practical exam for successful completion of recurrent training. Officers wishing to be re-certified should attend the "Basic Police Motorcycle Operators Course" offered by the RIMPTA

The next recurrent training is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2009, please check back for dates.

Recurrent training is held at Sachuest (2nd) Beach in Middletown Rhode Island Unless Special Arrangements Are Made For An Off Site.

If you have a large number of officers in need of recurrent training, arrangements can be made to offer a class exclusively to your agency.
