Police Motorcycle Officers have a strong tradition in the State of Rhode Island.

State and local police departments have been operating police motorcycles since the 1920's, the tradition lives on.

 Lt. Cofield Was The First Full-Time Motor Officer For The Middletown Police Department.

 He Continued To Ride As He Advanced In Rank And Served As The Department's Motorcycle Instructor.

 (Lt. Cofield Retired In 1985 But Still Shows Up At Motorcycle Training Every Year to make sure his son, Lieutenant Steve Cofield, is teaching properly.)

George Roderick Passed Away Some Years Ago But Remains A Legend At The Middletown Police Department.

Lieutenant O'Toole is retired and now works as a Deputy Sheriff.

Detective Macioci is retired but continues as a motorcycle instructor with the police academy.
